Rejniak Allows 1 Hit in 4-1 Playoff Win

MKE, WI - Alex Rejniak entered the game from the pen in a 2-1 game in the 5th inning, got out of a jam and shut down the Muskies the rest of the way as the Beavers advanced to their 5th straight division championship with a 4-1 win.  This Tuesday night game was continued in the 4th inning after it was suspened due to storms on Sunday.  The Beavers had a 2-0 lead tha in the bottom of the 3rd.  Starter Matt Burke continued his game on the mound from Sunday, but lost some sharpness and a home run cut the deficit to one.  Rejniak jumped right in and allowed just one hit, 3 walks, and struck out 4 in 4.2 innings of shutout ball.  Milwaukee's 1-5 hitters went 10-19, all with 2 hits appiece. 1-2 hitters Day and Barkhurst were on base 6 times and scored the 4 runs.  Youngbeck was 2-2 with 2 RBIs, Doug was 2-4 with an RBI, and Schoen knocked one in. 14 men were left on base. Burke allowed 1 run on 8 hits in 4.1 innings.  

 

The Irish match up against the Beavers in the ALCS for the 3rd straight year, after defeating the Bulls 2-0.  The best of 3 series begins Friday night, then Sunday & Tuesday, if necessary, with 7pm starts at the Rock. 

 

The NL's 1 & 2 seeds, Tigers & Mudhens, also face off Friday night.
