BEAVERS WIN IN WALK-OFF FASHION

Lannon, WI - The Beavers and Lakers both sent their aces to the bump in a big division game on Sunday afternoon at Joecks Memorial Field, and both pitchers delivered.  The game was cruising along until the 3rd when Justin Barkhurst knocked in Peter Nelson with a 2-out RBI single to take the lead.  A pitch later, Dominic "Dom" Bumadianne ripped a double that scored Barkhurst from first to make it 2-0.

Matt Burke was cruising unharmed for Milwaukee until an errant throw on a ground ball up the middle put a runner on in the 6th with 2 outs, which was followed with a double to make it 2-1.  In the 7th, a questionable call put runners on for the Lakers and with 2 outs and runners on the corners, Josh Smith was called in relief and induced a fly ball to escape the inning.  In the 8th, the Falls began the inning by reaching base on an error and then a walk.  Alex Kerschner (all 5 Laker RBI's) launched a 3-run HR to take a 4-2 lead. They tacked on an insurance run in the 9th to make it 5-2.

Evan Greco led off the Beaver 9th with a double down the left field line and was knocked home on a single from Nelson to make it 5-3. Barkhurst drew a walk to bring the winning run to the plate. The Lakers brought in ex-Brewer Don August to face Bumadianne.  Down to a 1-2 count, Dom ripped a shot over the left-center fence to give the Beavers a thrilling come-from-behind victory.

Bumadianne went 2-5 with 4 RBI's and a run. Nelson was 3-4, scored twice and had an RBI. The Beaver backstop, Matt Lenski, had 2 hits and Barkhurst also scored twice. Burke cruised through 7.2 innings, allowing just the one run, struck out 5 and walked none. Josh Smith limited damage and earned the victory in relief.  Box Score > https://bit.ly/31pikrp
