FRANKLIN, WI - Veteran pitching staff leader, Alex Rejniak was dominant in a 10-1 victory over the Irish Thursday night to force game 3 of the ALCS on Sunday night. After a career 2013 season (7-3, 2.09era, 81.2 innings), Rejniak came into last night's game with just one start and 10 innings under his belt as he carefully came back from an injury this year. It looks like that decision paid off as he looked as good as ever, going 7 strong, surrendering an unearned run on 4 hits, 1 walk and struck out 6. He also allowed a Beaver offense that has recently needed a few innings to wake up, to get going.
Small ball plated them three runs in the 5th inning and then it got heavy in the 6th. Tyler Schoen lined a 2-run shot over the CF fence and then Tim Garceau hit a bomb over replica Fenway's green monster in left to take a 7-0 lead. Alex Raver pitched a near perfect 8th and 9th and a few more runs capped a nice 10-1 victory over the Irish to tie the series at 1.
Every starter had a hit with Brett Youngbeck leading the way going 4-4 with a double. Jarrett Gates also was 2-4 with a double and a run scored. Justin Barkhurst's 15-game RBI streak in the RLB was snapped. Rejniak now as 256 strikeouts in 193 innings in his Beaver career.
These two teams will square off Sunday night on Pirates Field at the Rock, beginning at 7pm.
