FRANKLIN, WI - A seven-run explosion in the fourth inning spurred the Beavers to a 9-1 win over the #4 seed Titans on Sunday night at the Rock Sports Complex. After stranding a few runners in the first 3 innings, Milwaukee busted open for seven runs on six hits, capped by an RBI double by Tim Garceau in the 4th frame. That was more than enough support Matt Burke would need on the mound. Burke gave up just one run on six hits, and four strikeouts through eight innings. Alex Raver finshed the game with a scoreless ninth inning. Garceau padded the Beaver lead in the eighth inning with a line drive 2-run home run, who was a triple from the cycle. Seven Beavers picked up RBI's in the game, with Brett Youngbeck, Tim Garceau and Justin Barkhust recording multiple hits. The Beaver defense was solid as well, committing no errors, turning two double plays and stealing a few base hits.
The Beavers will now face the #2 seed Irish in the American League Division Championship Series. The Irish edged the Mudhens 2-1 in their victory Sunday night. The Beavers and Irish split their season series. Milwaukee won the season opener 7-4, and dropped a 4-2 game in early June. The Beavers knocked the Irish out in the division championship last season 11-5. In the National League, the #1 Builders take on the #2 Brewers. The Builders swept the season series 2-0.
